In March Belize had no imported case of the coronavirus via tourism. As of the 13th of May 2020, Belize remains COVID-19 free, with no new case over the last 28 days. The Government of Belize is looking to reopen the country for tourism in July if there are no new cases of the virus. We ask that you take the necessary precautions before traveling to Belize.
After your flight to Belize, they may or may not be testing; but there will be temperature checks at the Phillip Goldson International Airport (BZE).
Getting to Placencia
If you will be taking a Flight to Placencia, Please check with the local airline on the measures they are taking to prevent the spread.
Take a non-stop flight from the International Airport to Placencia if possible.
Taking a private shuttle or renting a car is also a possibility, but it will take about 3 hours to reach placencia.
Places to stay
Placencia has many cabanas, bungalows, and a few Airbnb’s. Booking a private cabin on the beach is perfect for social distancing while traveling. Some of these accommodations have half or a full kitchenette which makes it handy for any traveler.
We have always done and will continue to do private tours for overnight visitors. You can request the same crew if you are going to do 2 or more tours with us. This helps in reducing the number of people you come in contact with.
Our crew will undergo temperature checks daily. When rapid testing is available. We will seek out these test kits and test accordingly based on the amount available.
Restaurant and Bars
Placencia has plenty of open-air restaurants and bars, the preferred recommended choice by experts during this time.
